How To Make Money From Money With A Forex Blog

Forex trading is big and it’s getting bigger by the day. Something around five trillion dollars is traded every day on the currency markets, and increasingly, those who are doing the trading are not just the city slicker investment bankers with their designer suits and sports cars. They are amateur investors working from home on their PCs or even smartphone apps.

What do all traders have in common?

Traders come in all shapes and sizes. They have different aspirations, different budgets, different levels of experience and different risk appetites. But they all have one thing in common and that is an insatiable thirst for information, tips, news, advice and rumour.

The reason for this is that tracking, understanding and most of all predicting the currency market has often been compared to forecasting the weather. Seeing basic trends is one thing, but understanding the subtleties and outlying factors that can cause the financial equivalent of a sudden change of wind direction or drop in atmospheric pressure is another. And to identify these nuances, traders need a constant stream of information from every available direction.

To the keen blogger, this should already have the synapses snapping. When it comes down to it, a blog is aimed at providing exactly what Forex traders so desperately seek. Of course, there are already lots and lots of trading blogs out there. But as the number of amateur traders continues to rise, there is always room for more information sources.

Target the newbies

Experienced traders will already have their favourite sites, and while it is certainly worth attracting them too, it makes more sense if anyone who is starting an investment blog from scratch does so with the primary aim of educating those who are looking to start out in Forex trading or investing. That way you can take a first principles approach of what trading is all about, how to choose a trading broker, what software or apps are needed and so on, and build on this to grow in step with your target audience. Here are some points to keep in mind.

Plan ahead

It’s easy to leap into a project full of enthusiasm and start throwing content out into the virtual world, watching with a mixture of excitement and trepidation to see what sticks to what. However, it’s nothing close to anyone’s definition of a business model.

Before you do anything, have a clear picture in your mind of what you are trying to achieve and why you are trying to achieve it. Ask yourself the most basic questions. For example:

Q: Why a Forex blog?

A: Because trends and niches come and go, but Forex is here to stay.

Q: Why educational?

A: Because there are new amateur traders taking up Forex every day.

Keep asking yourself these seemingly obvious questions and you’ll make sure your blog does not stray from its intended path. When you are operating in an environment that is crowded, it is vitally important that you remain focused and on-message in everything you do and say.

Know your audience

It’s an old chestnut – in fact it’s pretty much Digital Marketing 101. If you’re going to start making money from your blog, you need to understand the people who are visiting it and why. We’ve already suggested that newbies to Forex trading constitute an ideal target audience. After all, it’s a growing market, and given that the focus of your blog is educational, there is clearly more scope to educate people when they are new to something.

The newcomers are also far easier to predict in terms of what they want. Look at it this way, an experienced trader might be interested in nuanced studies on the effect of Brexit on exotic Scandinavian currencies or of President Trump’s foreign policies on the Central American markets. The beginners, on the other hand, will be interested in topics like these:

  • How to get started trading Forex
  • What are the best Forex platforms?
  • A guide to the five most important Forex indicators
  • Forex trading tips from top experts

Articles like these are evergreen and will get you lots and lots of traffic from the endless parade of new traders visiting your blog. There are millions of searches every day on these sorts of topics.

How to monetize

Know your audience, increase your traffic, monetize your blog. Articles like the ones above provide the perfect opportunity for affiliate marketing. New traders need tools, they need brokers and they need detailed training tutorials. Your blog can act as a central hub to direct them to all these things and more.

Forex is a topic that is gaining more attention by the day, and thousands are flocking to it as a way to make money. However, for the unwary, it is fraught with risk. Perhaps the finance bloggers are the ones who really know the risk-free way to make money from Forex, without actually trading a single dollar!
