Richmond’s Three Generation Old Laikon Deli Expands Their Neighbouring Cafe

Since opening in 1976 in the heart of Richmond, three-generation family run business Laikon Deli has been providing traditional European deli goods and meals that are too good to resist. 42-years on and Laikon Deli has expanded their cafe offering with a brand new authentic European space.

Knocking down the adjoining wall to the recently purchased business next door, Laikon Deli has expanded the cafe so their regulars and newcomers can enjoy a sit-down breakfast or lunch with a delicious coffee.

The new space reflects the classic European look and feel of the deli with original exposed brick walls and mortar, while also paying homage to the family history with a collection of ornaments, photos and trinkets scattered throughout.

Along with the expansion of the cafe, Laikon Deli has added a multitude of exciting new additions to their menu, offering hot meals for a sit-down lunch and mouth-watering antipasto boards with your choice of fresh Salumi, Formaggio and Verdure.

New dishes include home cooked lasagne, baked gnocchi with sugo, basil, fior di latte
and a salumi plate.

Laikon Deli will be serving up alcohol so you can enjoy a few glasses of wine paired with a salumi and cheese board just in time for the warmer weather.

In 1976, Jon’s grandfather opened the Deli & Butcher, working alongside family members and Jon’s parents Michael & Kathy, until they bought the business from him and transformed it into Laikon Deli.

Jon took over the business in the early 2000s and has since finely tweaked it to include differing selections of European and Australian produce, a sandwich selection, breakfast and lunch and their all impressive coffee.

With the freshest handpicked products from small hand selected European local producers, Laikon Deli prides itself on delivering the highest quality ingredients and its all about quality ingredients and taste.

Laikon means ‘For Everyone’ – and we’re sure you’ll find something too.
