Prahran Market’s Say Cheese Festival will be bigger and better than ever with a brand new format and over double the amount of exhibitors. Now in its fourth year, the highly anticipated event scheduled for Saturday October 22 will spill onto Elizabeth Street and the Market mezzanine to allow for even more cheesy vendors, delicious cheesy dishes, free tastings, and of course, free entry.
For one day only, the Market will become home to providores like Tolpuddle Goat Cheese, That’s Amore Cheese, Meredith Dairy, Woombye and Prom Country Cheese – all offering something a little different for cheese enthusiasts to taste and enjoy. Shoppers will also have the opportunity to indulge in a perfectly matched Milawa Cheese Co cheese and wine flight in conjunction with Pizzini Wines, while they soak up the bustling Market atmosphere and peruse the stalls.
2016’s Cheesy Pop-Up Precinct welcomes back some of last year’s exhibitors and also says hello to some fantastic new ones. Meatmaiden will return for yet another year with its legendary mac ‘n’ cheese, while A25 Pizzeria will be back to serve up mouth-watering wood fired Margherita pizzas. We’ll also have 48 Hours Pizzeria & Gnoccheria on-site, dishing up their infamous charcoal gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese, while Professeur Crepe, That Arancini Guy, Wicked Spud and many other eateries tempt crowds with even more cheesy dishes on the day. There’s even raw vegan cheese on offer by Raw Trader, so everyone can join in the fun!
Prahran Market’s long list of traders will also contribute to the cheesy affair with everything from take away cheese boards to enjoy on the mezzanine or in the square, to delectable baked goat’s cheese soufflé, to cheese fondue, yummy gelato and so much more! Other highlights include Noisette’s amazing croque monsieur sandwiches and cheese baguettes; Maker & Monger’s Swiss raclette and cacio e pepe pasta dish, Market Lane’s cult mushroom burgers and a special barbecued haloumi dish exclusive to Say Cheese. The Chapel Street Cellars Say Cheese bar is also sure to be a popular hotspot, where shoppers can purchase wine to enjoy with their cheese load. See the complete list of trader offerings below.
The Omega & Neil Perry Kitchen will be abuzz throughout the day with demos from our very own cheesemonger Anthony Femia of Maker & Monger, and Market restaurateur Paul Wilson, alongside the likes of Tobie Puttock, Dani Valent, and That’s Amore’s Giorgio Linguanti, who will amaze crowds with a mozzarella stretching demo.
Special offers and promotions will run all day throughout the Market, as well as the chance to win a cheese hamper from Calendar Cheese. There will be plenty for the little ones too with Tolpuddle’s gorgeous kid goat feeding activity and free face painting.
The Prahran Market Cheese Festival kicks off at 10am on Saturday October 22.
