Now that we are stuck at home for the foreseeable future, many of us have taken the chance to learn new things and catch up on much needed sleep. Today we want to take a look specifically at things that everyone can do in the garden during this lockdown period to spruce the place up and also make it tidier. Here are some of the jobs you can consider doing in the garden this week during lockdown.
Get weeding
The first niggling job you can consider doing during this period is weeding. Weeding your flowerbeds can be a huge annoyance and most of us take for granted how quickly weeds can spread if they aren’t managed. It is important for you to take your time weeding thoroughly and get as many weeds as possible pulled out if you want your garden to look beautiful and clean all summer long. As well as the flowerbeds, you may also notice weeds growing through cracks in your patio or driveway. To deal with these, use a hoe to scrape off the bulk of the plant, and then use boiling water to kill the roots underneath. Or you can even try cordless grass shears.
Resurface the patio
One of the larger jobs you may want to tackle during lockdown is resurfacing or revamping your patio. You may need to use a skip bin hire for this as there could be a lot of rubbish to deal with. Resurfacing the patio won’t take as long as you think, and when you have finished it will feel like you have a whole new front driveway or patio to enjoy during those long lockdown days.
Clean the driveway
If you have a pressure washer in your shed, now is the perfect time to break it out and get to work. Over time as you walk over the driveway and park your car on it, the driveway can become dirty and grow lichen and algae. A pressure washer is the perfect way to eradicate the dirt this week and make your driveway feel fresh and new. It is an ultra satisfying job to do and you’ll enjoy doing it! Look into commercial skip bin hire to help tidy up your home. If you don’t own a pressure washer at your home. Check Hotsy Equipment Company to rent one.
Build a raised bed
If you have a lack of flowers in your garden or you simply want to add something new to the space, a great idea would be to build a raised flowerbed. This is easier than you think, and all you need to start with is a bag of compost, lots of bedding plants, and either some bricks, stones, or a wooden border to use. Mark out your border and build it up so that it is the desired height from the ground. Fill this with compost and make sure it is pressed down. Then, arrange and plant your bedding plants and gain a stunning new feature in the garden in only an hour or two!
There are lots of amazing crafts and jobs to do during the garden while you are at home, so make the most of your time this week and make your garden feel like an outdoor paradise!
