A unique vineyard escape will soon be available at three of Victoria’s premier wineries, with the much anticipated return of Wine Down Pop Up.
The limited time activation will see beautifully crafted eco-luxury pods by Contained move across three popular wine regions from March to May 2020: the Yarra Valley (Seville Estate), Mornington Peninsula (Montalto) and Rutherglen (All Saints Estate).
Those lucky enough to secure an overnight stay will wake up amongst the vines in one of two boutique hotel rooms, each designer appointed with high end finishes, a luxury bathroom, taste of the region minibar and breakfast hamper, luxuriously soft bed linens and a private deck – perfect for a romantic getaway.
A third pod, brand new for 2020 and available to all winery visitors will house an immersive wine bar showcasing Victorian wines and produce via a bespoke virtual reality experience. Visitors can book a session, or simply drop in, to engage their senses with regional Victoria in an entirely new way.
As part of the VR session, guests will sample wines and matched foods from each of Victoria’s newly framed hero wine regions, which include the Pinot Coast (Geelong & Bellarine Peninsula, Mornington Peninsula and Gippsland), Shiraz Central (Heathcote, Pyrenees, Grampians, Bendigo, Ballarat, Macedon Ranges and Goulburn Valley), King Valley Prosecco Road, Muscat of Rutherglen and Yarra Valley.
Committed to providing a quality tourism experience that has no impact on the environment, the Wine Down Pop Up will be powered by a Black Stump Solar Energy Generator, making it a net zero carbon operation and meaning guests can enjoy a guilt-free getaway.
An electric BMW i3 will be available to guests to encourage regional exploration, while those keen for some downtime can relax in the hotel’s private hot tub or try out the in-room VR meditation and entertainment set.
The boutique stay will open at stunning Seville Estate in the Upper Yarra Valley from February 28 to March 28. Located just over an hour’s drive from Melbourne, Seville Estate boasts award- winning wines, unrivalled views of the Upper Yarra Valley and a highly regarded onsite restaurant, making this the ideal location to relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The pop up hotel will move to Montalto in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula from April 3 to May 2. Visitors can meander through the Sculpture Trail before refuelling at one of the
winery’s renowned eateries: the Piazza is a casual destination that centres around sharing whereas Montalto Restaurant offers a more refined dining experience dedicated to seasonal produce.
The third and final location for the temporary retreat will be the family owned All Saints Estate, from May 8 to June 7. Located in historic Rutherglen, lodgers will have countless activities to choose from such as private tastings, a picnic by the duck pond or a leisurely bike ride to St Leonards vineyard. The Brown family are gracious hosts, always on hand to lend advice or share fascinating stories about the region and its natural bounty.
This is the second year of the Wine Down Pop Up with the inaugural event proving to be a great success, achieving 95% occupancy across three months. With recent bushfires in regional Victoria, now more than ever is an important time to get out into the regions because a short stay goes a long way.
