The fanciest, most extravagant dog park your pooch could dream of, Scratch Patch, is coming to Melbourne this March.
Created by Australia’s most ethical dog food company, Scratch Pet Food, Scratch Patch will be a feast for the eyes, ears and noses of Melbourne’s furry friends, with every obstacle, treat and play area a dog could ever need.
Opening on Saturday 5 March at Edinburgh Gardens in Fitzroy North, the experiential playground invites Melbourne’s doggos and their owners to join in the fun and tackle the on-site obstacles like high jump and agility poles, play a game of totem tennis, and even jump in a pool made just for dogs!
There will also be a stick library for dogs to borrow from, a tuck shop packed full of healthy Scratch dog food and treats, and plenty of colourful installations for humans to take some happy snaps of their pups having the time of their lives.
“Melbourne is our hometown and we feed nearly 10,000 dogs here, but haven’t been able to meet any since the pandemic hit,” said Scratch co-founder, Mike Halligan. “So to show the dogs of Melbourne just how much we love them and have missed them, we’ve decided to create the ultimate experience where dogs can just be dogs.”
“Our furry friends kept us going through lockdowns, so as our way of thanking them, we’ve spared absolutely nothing when building Scratch Patch. We can’t wait to see them and spoil them,” he continued.
While the focus of the park is the dogs, Scratch Patch will be just as entertaining for the humans who accompany them. Dog owners will be able to play with their dogs in a safe, outdoor environment, mix with like-minded dog owners, and be able to share their experience with friends, family and social media.
And just in case some dogs don’t play nice, Scratch will have dog behaviour specialists on hand every day of the event, making sure everyone gets along.
Scratch Patch will run from 5 to 27 March at Edinburgh Gardens in Fitzroy North. The event is free for Scratch customers and City of Yarra residents, and $10 for everyone else.
