DRINK: DeBortoli Woodfired Heathcote Cabernet Sauvignon
Following the success of De Bortoli Wines’ multi-award winning WOODFIRED Heathcote Shiraz, the family-owned winery has added a dark fruited, rich yet soft Cabernet Sauvignon to the range.
Sourced from De Bortoli’s vineyard at Corop in Northern Heathcote, Victoria’s home of big reds, and crafted by Chief Winemaker Steve Webber, WOODFIRED wines are recognisably dense and complex with ripe dark fruits, cedar-wood and balance.
The WOODFIRED Heathcote Cabernet Sauvignon has already made an impression, taking out the ‘Best Cabernet’ trophy at the 2019 Heathcote Wine Show. This well-balanced and textured red complements the full-bodied Heathcote Shiraz and the soft, rich and fine crimson bubbles of the Heathcote Sparkling Shiraz.
Presented in an elegant tall claret bottle, De Bortoli WOODFIRED Heathcote Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 has a RRP of $22 and will be available at leading independent liquor retailers.

BUY: Amazing Oils Natural and Vegan-Friendly Skincare Range
Magnesium is essential for the enzymes that support DNA repair and cell replication in the skin. Often overlooked in the anti-ageing category for more glamorous ingredients, this multipurpose compound supports the synthesis of collagen while improving elasticity and moisture, combatting free radical damage and balancing pH levels. Ideal for sensitive skin types, magnesium as a skincare active also serves as a detoxifying agent to help treat and reverse adult and teenage acne, rosacea, redness and inflammation.
Celebrated for their natural magnesium body range to help treat aches and pains, Queensland-based and family operated business, Amazing Oils, today launches their natural and organic range of magnesium-enriched, superfood skincare for the face.
Made in Australia and free from sulphates and parabens, the vegan-friendly and cruelty-free range includes a quandong fruit facial cleanser, kakadu plum vitamin C serum, brightening lilly pilly eye cream, nourishing magnesium hydrator and moisturiser, and their innovative blemish stick containing a high concentration of pure Australian-sourced magnesium.
VISIT: The Sovereign Hill Spectacular
In 1850s tradition, The Sovereign Hill Spectacular will roll into town, where kids can test their juggling skills, walk the death-defying balance beam, and strike a pose for a funny photo in a ‘tableaux vivant’. There will be a Grand Parade, complete with a Ringmaster, clowns, acrobats, strongman, ribbon twirlers and animals, a pop-up theatre where visitors can stage their own puppet show; and an old fashioned ‘Gurning Contest’, where visitors are asked to pull a funny face.
Gurning contests are a rural English tradition. They are still held regularly in some villages, with contestants traditionally framing their faces through a horse collar —known as ‘gurnin’ through a braffin.
Archie and Uggy, the miniature donkeys, are seasoned crowd pleasers and there’ll be a whole new menagerie of baby animals to meet, as well as a magic lantern show and pantomimes.
When: 10am until 5pm, Saturday 21 September until Sunday 6 October, 2019.
Where: Sovereign Hill, Bradshaw Street, Ballarat.

READ: Why Worry Wally? by Richard Foster
According to Beyond Blue, one in seven young people aged 4 to 17 years experience a mental health condition in any given year. In 2015, it was reported one in fourteen young Australians (6.9%) aged 4 to 17 experienced an anxiety disorder. That’s equivalent to approximately 278,000 young people.
Kid’s author Richard Foster experienced this startling statistic first hand, seeing both his young daughters go through separate periods of anxiety and worries.
So when Richard himself experienced severe anxiety, leading to him leaving his own business for a period of time, he decided to do something positive and write a picture book for kids dealing with worries.
Titled Why Worry Wally?, Richard is self publishing the book and has started a Kickstarter Campaign to raise funds for printing and marketing the book online and into bookstores. He is also collaborating with long-time friend and world-renowned artist Jackie Case to bring Why Worry Wally? to life.
Richard is extremely passionate about kids health and wellbeing, and has partnered up with Kids Helpline so that he can support this not-for profit organisation through donating a percentage of any profits made from the eventual sale of the books.
If you want to help Richard achieve his goal of raising $18,000 through his Kickstarter Campaign, go to kickstarter.com and search for Why Worry Wally? or click the link here. Richard is offering many ways to donate, including purchasing a signed copy of the book, artwork by Jackie Case, and even a kids drawing workshop including brunch for the lucky parent.
