I jumped on the scales and wasn’t happy when I realised that I was 98.8 kilos, with a BMI of 38, which is technically obese. That was when I truly realised that I had let myself go.In 2019, I was 37 and I had reached a breaking point and needed to make a change.
I did not want to be fat and forty I wanted to be fabulous and forty!
My weight had crept on since my mother passed away in 2017. She had a terminal illness and I literally watched her take her last breath. The grief was very hard for me to deal with. I gave up on life and as a result, didn’t take care of myself. At that time nothing really mattered to me and my poor choices eventually caught up with my health.
I remember that day on the scales and thought to myself that this is not who I am.
I know that life is so short and the only person that I am hurting is me. If I am not making good choices for my body for my mind, then I am not looking after myself.
So I went to see my doctor who advised that I had to make some serious lifestyle changes for the sake of my health. He put me on a weight loss program, Optislim Platinum Plus very low calorie diet of three shakes a day and advised I go on a thirty minute walk every day, while ensuring I was also drinking lots of water.
And so it began. I was determined to make changes, to see positive results and regain control over my health and wellbeing.
I firmly believe that anybody can lose weight.
A lot of people struggle with being overweight; many overweight people need to be honest to themselves and admit that it is an issue, it is the only way they can move forward.
If you are overweight, you are most likely in denial and if you’re in denial, you won’t do anything about it. For me it was a willingness to accept the truth, and a willingness to do something about it.
If you tell someone that they are fat, they are going to be upset and will use that in a negative way, probably by comfort eating!
It’s a very sad and uncomfortable truth to confront: the only way to free yourself is to remove the shackles and be motivated
Making a weight loss goal and plan is certainly something to work towards.
I have lost over 32 kilos and it feels fantastic to have a nice new wardrobe. I love fitting into a nice pair of jeans and looking good. Mentally I am happier and enjoying an active lifestyle. Overall, I feel like a new person!
Results and achievements: it is critical to maintain consistency so the results show and try to always remember, losing it is a lot harder than gaining it!
