Restful sleep is a pillar of good health, happiness and physical performance, making it incredibly important to create an environment for sleep that’s beautiful and calming. Despite this, many of us still struggle to balance comfort, style and simplicity in the bedroom.
Jane Ledger – renowned interior stylist, creative, blogger, and owner of Jane Ledger Interiors – has put together the tips below for foolproof, simple and serene bedroom styling.

We all know how important it is to get a good night’s rest, right? But as an interior designer and stylist, I also know how important it is to create an environment for sleep that’s beautiful and calming.
I was thrilled to work with Sealy Posturepedic recently to experience their premium mattresses and show you how to create your own luxurious sleep sanctuary.
START WITH A QUALITY MATTRESS
Choosing a high quality mattress is the starting point for any beautiful bedroom scheme. Here I’m working with the Sealy Posturepedic ‘Enhance’ mattress ensemble, with Medium firmness. I tested quite a few before settling on this one, which has an excellent level of back support and luxurious finish. Made with a unique coil support system and layers of memory foam, this is the perfect foundation for a luxe bedroom scheme.
BUILD LAYERS
Next, build your bedroom sanctuary by layering beautiful linens in colours you love. I love white, charcoal and blue, so used this as my base palette for dressing the bed. I find that when I’m layering a bed, I don’t need to use too much bold pattern or print, as the layers themselves provide texture and interest. I also find it more calming to repeat colours than introduce too many clashing colours.
I layered the Sealy ensemble this way:
- White sheets
- Charcoal duvet cover
- White quilt cover
- Stormy blue/grey throw
You can see I’ve repeated the colours but mixed the textures.
Not everything has to match to create a luxe scheme. Play with different pillow and Euro arrangements to create an unstructured look, and mix linen sets to create layers rather than blocks of colour. Here I took one ‘feature’ pillow case from a set I love and paired it with a pair of plain white pillowcases and a soft blue velvet cushion. I used two dark blue European pillows to anchor the scheme against the white panelled wall.
ADD STYLING ELEMENTS
I love introducing round shapes into spaces dominated by squares and rectangles, so two nested round tables work well as bedsides. For a luxe finish against the linens, I included feature lamps in black, white and brushed gold.
A photographic print in tones of Agave green adds a soothing touch to the bedroom. And a large rug under the bed in luxurious bamboo silk finishes the bedroom scheme.
ALL-AUSTRALIAN MADE
Working with the Sealy Posturepedic ‘Enhance’ mattress was a dream. I love that it’s made in Australia and manufactured in the highest quality materials and finishes. And I can honestly say I have never slept better!
I hope you’ll take a few of my tips and have some fun creating your own Sealy sleep sanctuary.
