Despite male masturbation being a common phenomenon, a global study by male pleasure brand Arcwave reveals that 47% of men “never talk about masturbation”.
To encourage more open, positive, and fun conversations amongst penis owners regarding their sexual wellness, and to celebrate the launch of its latest product, the Arcwave VOY, the brand has launched Australia’s first masturbation advice hotline for men, on the number 02 8880 0463.
Johanna Rief, Head of Sexual Empowerment at Arcwave, comments: “Unfortunately, there is still a taboo attached to masturbation. While we’ve made significant progress breaking down the stigma in the last decade, the conversation around the health and wellness benefits of masturbation has been largely led by the female empowerment movement. Opening up this new line of communication for men can help people identifying as male develop a similar masturbation mindset that gives more relevance to health and wellness-driven, but still fun, self-pleasure routines.”
The sample of the Arcwave global study comprised 7,244 men from 17+ countries, including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Australia, Spain, Switzerland, and others. When asked who they’d feel comfortable talking to about masturbation, 30.8% of men said they feel most comfortable discussing masturbation with their partner, 20.8% feel comfortable talking about it with a friend and 5.6% with a professional doctor.
Australian sexologist and Arcwave’s sexual wellness expert, Cam Fraser, said, “There are so many benefits of masturbation. Not only can it boost your immune system, it can also help with relieving pain, and learning more about your body, boundaries, pleasure, turn ons, and turn offs. Having a robust understanding of these things by exploring them during masturbation can help you to communicate about them with a partner.”
“It can also help with self-confidence, self-esteem, and body-positivity,” he added.
When calling the hotline, men will be prompted with a menu in order to choose the kind of information they want to receive. This includes tips to have a healthy masturbation routine, and the links between masturbation and sex. Men also have an option to leave a message in order to get the contact details of a sexual wellness professional in their country.
All experts agree that adding diversity to one’s masturbation routine is the key to generating different feelings in the body and enhancing orgasms. To that extent, Arcwave has launched the new Arcwave VOY together with the hotline.
Arcwave VOY targets the Merkel-Ranvier receptors in the skin of the penis, which research reveals to respond particularly well to tightness – a finding that other sex toys ignore. Arcwave Voy utilises this science to stimulate them with its unique Tightness Adjustment System (TAS). It can be activated by rotating the adjustment wheel behind the top lid, which increases or decreases the silicone’s tightness. This creates the perfect adjustment fit for every body, allowing for an easy change between tighter and less tight settings. When stimulated just right, a whole new pleasure sensation is created – which is why playing with Voy provides a more intense orgasm experience than hand masturbation.
Arcwave VOY is available now at www.arcwave.com, www.lovehoney.com.au and other retailers.
