The schedule for the Winter Reds 2021 festival has just been announced, with a record number of events taking place in the Adelaide Hills over the weekend of 27-29 August 2021. Following a more low-key line-up in 2020 due to COVID restrictions, this year is set to be packed with wine tastings, parties, indulgent lunches and opportunities to rug up and head to the Hills with friends and family.
2021 will be the biggest Winter Reds in history, with 79 events confirmed across the three days. This year’s theme is What’s Your Red?’ – with wineries creating their own special experiences that champion the best of their red wines (but also offering plenty of alternative varieties if red isn’t your thing).
The full list of events and booking details can be seen on www.winterreds.com.au. They include:
At Pike and Joyce: P&J 593º Winter Garden – fires, food and live music; a ‘Perception of Pinot’ Clonal Pinot Noir tasting and the P&J 593º degustation at Pike and Joyce’s restaurant.
Italian Reds workshop – Hills vs Italy at La Prova – Taste and talk about Italian red grape varieties in the Adelaide Hills and compare them to their native Italian counterparts.
Be the Maker – Winter Reds Blending Masterclass at The Lane – blend your own red wine in this interactive winemaking experience.
Little Fish Big Red Lunch at Landhaus Estate – two course seated South Australian seafood luncheon.
Dinner with Cato X Wandless at Ngeringa Vineyards – a five course meal from two of Sydney’s hottest young chefs, paired with wine.
A LONG lunch at Wick’s Estate Wines – an eight-course wine-matched modern Asian degustation with food from Concubine, Gin Long & Bai Long.
Wanted: Red or Alive! at Mordrelle Wines – a night of Latin passion, thrills and grills with live music, South American cuisine and wine.
Jared Stringer, president, Adelaide Hills Wine Region comments, “There can be a temptation to hibernate in winter, but if there’s one event that will get wine-lovers in South Australia and beyond rugging up and heading out it is Winter Reds. We’re so excited about this year’s line-up, there’s something for everyone – from educational tastings for the ‘cork dorks’, to paired meals for the foodies, to parties with live music by the fire for the fun lovers. This year, wineries across the Hills have been challenged to think about ‘What’s Your Red, and have gone all out to create experiences that really showcase the best of their red wines, all packed into the best weekend of winter.”
