The Old Garage Cafe are switching coffee and sandwiches and turning it old school New York Italian style on Friday 24th of September with their latest pop up, Papa Mambo Italiano.
The Old Garage owners Rachael Schinck and Prince Dib are all about supporting charities when hosting an event and this time is no different with the team partnering up with Christmas on the Streets, a charity that the cafe has worked with closely in the past.
COTS is a not-for-profit organisation supporting men and women experiencing homelessness in Melbourne. The Old Garage team a few weeks ago supplied meals for COTS to serve to the homeless and this time are getting the Camberwell Community involved.
The Old Garage is calling all Camberwell locals to help support COTS and its mission by donating a meal to the homeless. When you place an order on their Papa Mambo Italiano Night they are asking customers to pay it forward which will give them the opportunity to donate a $20 meal to COTS, that will feed one homeless person. COTS goes out weekly feeding and looking after the homeless in Melbourne, this is one simple thing we can do as a community to support COTS on its mission.
Inspired by the New York old school Little Italy, the night will feature a collection of Italian takeaway dishes with a twist. The menu is crafted by co-owner Prince Dib and head chef, Harley Salanitri (previously Head Chef of 400 Gradi Group).
The pair have chosen to include a traditional nonna style lasagna in the menu, deep-fried crispy ravioli with a creamy cheese filling served with a sauce of your choice; either housemade Napoli or basil pesto. If you are like us and love to have something to dip into the sauce – the team will also be serving homemade focaccia with confit garlic and cherry tomatoes, Bon Appetit!
The Old Garage will also be collaborating with Cannoli Bar on the dessert options. They will be bringing their gorgeous Sicilian cannolis in two flavours; chocolate and vanilla, with a vegan option too. In addition to this, if you are looking for something to sip on with your meal The Old Garage will be serving takeaway cocktails and a selection of Sanpellegrino sparkling drinks to complete the Italian ambience.
Everything on the food menu can be made vegan giving the plant-based customers a chance to be included in the pop up too!
Pre-order is a must to avoid disappointment as there will be limited orders available on the night. It would be a shame to miss out on Papa Mambo Italiano.
