Albert Park’s Pelican Lawn will transform into a foodie mecca this November as Taste of Melbourne in partnership with Electrolux returns with an enviable blend of new culinary trailblazers and beloved Victorian restaurants.
From Flinders Lane to the Grampians, Queen Victoria Market to Collingwood, Taste of Melbourne in partnership with Electrolux once again unites the best of the best from every corner of Victoria in a four day foodie heaven.
Taste showcases the greatest Melbourne chefs and their signature dishes and festival exclusives, cherished local restaurants, engrossing cooking demonstrations, artisan producers, interactive masterclasses and live music performances all in a lakeside alfresco setting.
Scott Pickett is set to deliver a twin-hit of Taste debuts, with his latest venture Pickett’s Deli and Rotisserie, launching onto the Melbourne dining scene in September, and Estelle Bistro, the celebrated Northside eatery known for its flexible a la carte and tasting menus showcasing moreish seasonal produce.
In another Taste first, Mamasita will feature an exclusive tasting dish from new venue Hotel Jesus, delivering the fun and flamboyance of Mexican cuisine straight to Melbourne. All things agave will be showcased in the adjoining bar, with dedicated masterclasses and spirit tastings with Australia’s only certified mezcalier, Nick Peters.
The fresh-faced program continues as award-winning restauranteur Andrew McConnell debuts his iconic Flinders Lane eatery Cumulus Inc., famed for its contemporary take on Australian dining.
With a smorgasbord of new talent on the scene, festival veterans will also be delighted to see a selection of Taste alumni return.
Frank Camorra brings tastebud-tantalising tapas and other Spanish specialities with his crowd-pleasing venue MoVida. Fellow CBD diner Supernormal will delight once again with arresting flavours from Korea, China, Japan and beyond. Visitors will also get the chance to sample the visionary menu of Circa, The Prince; a culmination of eclectic tastes driven by a sense of fun and exploration.
The culinary excellence continues with the two hatted Royal Mail Hotel, who will bring their patch to plate movement to Taste with ingredients picked fresh from their own festival garden, inspired by the restaurant’s majestic Grampians location.
For the first time, visitors will have the opportunity to cook alongside their favourite chefs and prepare their signature dishes as part of Electrolux Chefs’ Secrets.
Following the hands-on masterclass, the meal will be enjoyed at a communal table with a glass of matched wine.
Guests will be spoilt for choice when it comes to new and exciting features at Taste; including a newly refreshed Lurpak Cooking School back by popular demand, snappy onsite deliveries from Deliveroo and a dedicated citrus highball bar from Jim Beam. Tastebuds are set to soar sky high with Etihad Airways, who will present their unmatched culinary expertise alongside a First Class virtual reality experience.
Beer lovers will be in hop heaven with a Mediterranean Taste Bar courtesy of Estrella Damm and Cumulus Inc. Elsewhere; guests can revel in the rhythm of the Dhol Drum at the bright and colourful Kingfisher Bar, the brand known as “the king of good times”, for a reason.
It’s not just Melbourne’s best chefs that are descending on Pelican Lawn; a number of fresh local musical acts will be taking to the Music Hub to create the perfect ambience for the weekend. Attendees will also get the chance to sip, sample and shop a range of premium food and beverages from 100 of Melbourne’s finest producers, handpicked especially for the event.
