Melbourne’s up-and-coming suburb of Rosanna (17km from CBD) welcomes the long-anticipated opening of its newest eatery, Sideshow Burgers.

“Rosanna is growing rapidly with a diverse crowd of young families, couples and singles who still want to experience Melbourne’s casual dining scene. Miss Marie does a great job at capturing the café crowd, but we also wanted to open a space where people could get their burger fix without having to go into the city”, says Gupta.
Gupta and Chew bring 20 years of hospitality experience, having both worked in kitchens across Melbourne. Chew began his apprenticeship in 2000 at ARIA with Matt Moran and then moved onto Da Noi in South Yarra where he met Gupta. He then opened his first café, Eat a Scroll Bakehouse in Collingwood which he sold after three years.
The short but sweet menu features six standout burgers made with locally sourced ingredients and Brasserie Bakery sourdough buns. For the health-conscious, a naked bun option with fresh butter lettuce is also available. Sides include favourites such as onion rings and loaded fries. Complete your meal with an old-school milkshake of your choice – Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Chocolate and Strawberry.
Although having a long line of eager customers at their soft-opening a couple of weeks ago, Sideshow Burgers have set a daily limit of 150 burgers each day. “We could easily churn out double that amount but having run the pop-up, we want to follow the same principle and ensure the quality of our burgers remains consistent every time. We’re not interested in becoming a sell-out,” says Chew.
A man of many talents Chew also completed a degree in interior design, which came in handy when developing the fit out. The 20-seater light-filled space features an open grill, burgundy leather booths and bright circus-themed graphics for the complete casual eatery. “We also have a courtyard out the back which will be made available for private event bookings soon”, Chew says.
