Patrons of South Yarra’s newest rooftop restaurant and bar will enjoy an unrivalled view of Melbourne’s iconic city skyline while imbibing the very best the world-famous hospitality precinct has to offer.
Occupying level 24 of the soon-to-be-completed $300m 627 Chapel St commercial tower, the luxury rooftop restaurant and bar is set to open in time for summer after the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) approved developer Goldfields’ planning application.
Inspired by exclusive rooftop club venues located in some of the world’s most iconic cities, the sophisticated new terrace hospitality venue will capture the al fresco spirit of South Yarra with a contemporary Mediterranean aesthetic.
Boasting stylish interiors, an open-sided pergola, relaxed lounge seating areas and canopy trees, the rooftop of 627 Chapel St will offer guests uninterrupted panoramic views over Melbourne, as well as privacy.
The final layout and associated styling considerations for the space will be decided in agreement with the appointed venue operator.
Commenting on the new rooftop terrace, Marco Gattino, Managing Director of Goldfields, said “The 627 Chapel St rooftop bar and restaurant will become the go-to destination for unbeatable South Yarra sunsets. It’s designed to be a welcoming, sophisticated space with world-class views, great hospitality and luxury amenities.”
Under the approved permit, the new venue will have a seven-day operating license and capacity to cater for up to 200 patrons.
Gattino added “627 Chapel St is set to reinvigorate South Yarra in multiple ways. Not only will the landmark tower offer a unique and intelligent working environment for businesses outside of the CBD, but the rooftop bar will also play an important role in contributing to the vibrancy and economic strength of the Chapel Street entertainment precinct after a tough couple of years.
“We have already shortlisted three well-known local groups and one international operator from Los Angeles to potentially partner with. The feedback from day one about this opportunity was overwhelmingly positive and now we know the exact parameters we can work in, we look forward to choosing the right partner to bring this vision to life.”
Due to be completed and ready for occupancy in November 2021, the $300m, 24-level 627 Chapel St was topped out in June and features over 24,000 square metres of prime commercial space for a diverse group of tenants ranging from successful start-ups to creative multinational corporations.
