Uncle Restaurant first popped up on Carlisle St in St Kilda, but the family has now extended to include a Collins Street hangout. I was lucky enough to experience an intimate dinner to test the menu out.
From the moment I walked inside, the ambience was perfect for the setting – with LED lights lighting the way, and a beautiful outlook onto Collins Street, I couldn’t have imagined anything better for the Vietnamese eatery.
Executive Chef, co-owner and all round food genius Dai Duong is the man behind the amazing menu, that carries some of St Kilda’s signature dishes, but with a fresh new array of offerings. The Uncle family wouldn’t be complete without the help of fellow co-owners Rene Spence and Bowen Holden.
From Burrata with heirloom tomatoes and pickled papaya to Grilled Sher Wagyu Brisket, every item on the menu is a standout in its own way. Plus, not to mention the divine cocktail list to choose from (lychee in a cocktail, yes please)!
The food is ridiculously delicious and packed with flavour. And if it helps get my point across, you should know that I was one bite away from needing to be rolled home – that’s how good the food was.
Located at Level 1, 15 Collins Street, the CBD venue is the perfect place for a post work feed, afternoon drinks or a sneaky midnight feast. Whatever the reason you’re dining at Uncle, the Vietnamese menu won’t disappoint.
