Hop aboard the breakfast express, stopping all stations to flavour town! Fan favourite bakery-cafe Rustica Sourdough has opened its fourth set of doors in iconic Melbourne Central.
Nestled between Country Road and sass & bide on the second floor, you’ll find the blush-hued, Instagrammer’s dream of a café.
Founder Brenton Lang’s vision is to turn shopping centre dining on its head, and he says Rustica is “set to take you away from [the feel of cheap and cheerful food court options] and give the experience of quality Melbourne cafés.
Melburnians demand high-quality dining experiences, regardless of their location or venue,” says Lang, and Rustica is certainly providing in this category.
Dill and Gin Cured Trout atop a fresh salad of freekeh, heirloom vegetables, baba ganoush and pickled eggs. TLDR: eat this.
Boasting a fabulous menu – the broadest of any Rustica cafe to date – Melbourne Central is open 7 days a week for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and everything in between.
Rustica die-hards can expect the return of old favourites, and say hello to mouth-watering new, seasonal menu options.
Pop in for a quick coffee and croissant, or meet a friend for a sophisticated serve of Chili Scrambled Eggs atop Rustica’s iconic Miche loaf.
Yes, you can be the friend that gets the sweet breakfast for lunch.
For those of you with a sweet tooth, the French Toast is a refreshing Aussie take on a classic breakfast. A very aesthetically pleasing chocolate lamington is complemented by strawberry jelly and oreo custard (ooh), peanut butter brittle (ooooh), edible flowers and boundless berries (YES PLEASE).
Coffee and croissant or coffee in croissant? Go on, dip it. We won’t judge.
No time to stop? No worries! Rustica serves up the iconic pastries you know and love for takeaway, along with loaves of bread, brekkie rolls and, of course, coffee by First Love Coffee.
Blush pink hues take over the café’s interior, designed by Wendy Bergman of Bergman & Co (yes, she did Chin Chin). The monochromatic interior gives the space a relaxing atmosphere; a peaceful oasis from the fast-paced feeling of the train station below.
