48H Pizza & Gnocchi Bar Elsternwick is the second of its kind to open up in Melbourne, and kid you not my stomach did summersaults of happiness when I heard this news.
If you can’t tell by the name, 48H Pizza & Gnocchi Bar is a beautiful, happy place that sells the best Italian pizza and gnocchi outside of Italy (as claimed by professional pizza and pasta lover, myself).
Interestingly, the name comes from how long they believe the pizza dough needs to sit and rise. They say that it needs to sit for at least 48 hours minimum, and that helps it come out much lighter, and when you break the crust it’s just perfect.
The first restaurant opened up back in 2015 in South Yarra, and after two years of success they’ve opened up a new home on Gordon Street in Elsternwick. And not only is this a restaurant, but they have also included a delicatessen, so that they can sell all the products they use, direct to the public. Everything they import is now available to customers. Woo!
My fave item on the menu is the charcoal activated gnocchi, definitely a stand out in my eyes and a dish you would struggle to find anywhere else.
If you’re ever interested in learning how to cook gnocchi like a pro, then you definitely need to get down to the South Yarra eatery because they run a very popular masterclass once a month. But regardless, make sure you visit either the South Yarra or Elsternwick 48H because I can guarantee you won’t regret it.
