New Meal Kit Company Launches with recipes from Bomba, Tipico, ISH, Babajan, Fancy Hanks and more.
Kiss goodbye boring meals and say hello to mouth-watering recipes crafted by Melbourne’s best venues for Make-Out Meals — a new Melbourne-grown meal kit company reimagined to support local restaurants.
Different to take-away and restaurant meal delivery services that are pre-prepared and finished at home, Make-Out Meals lets Victorians get cosy with some of their favourite restaurants, delivering weekly meal kits packed full of fresh ingredients from local suppliers for people to create quick and easy restaurant-quality food at home, every day.
Launching today, Make-Out Meals has delicious restaurant recipes and chef partners from venues including Spanish favourites Bomba Tapas Bar & Rooftop and Simply Spanish, Windsor’s Italian icon Tipico, American-style barbeque venue Fancy Hank’s, modern-ish Indian restaurant ISH, Turkish café Babajan, La Tortilleria and more.
Make-Out Meals is the brainchild of Melbourne marketer Billy Green who saw a need to support the city’s restaurant industry struggling with the effects of COVID-19. Wanting to share his love of our vibrant venues, Billy founded Make- Out Meals to deliver weekly meal kits that focus on broadening restaurant’s community connections as well as take on internationally owned companies such as Hello Fresh and Marley Spoon, which have huge growth in their share prices and doubled their customer base since the start of the pandemic.
“With more Aussies choosing to skip the supermarket line and opt for meal kit subscriptions, I saw an opportunity to create something that supports our local economy and restaurant industry by delivering produce and recipes from our favourite venues, directly to people’s homes,” says Make-Out Meals Founder Billy Green.
With the choice of subscription or a once-off meal kit (limited time only), customers first choose the number of people (two or four) and the number of meals (two, three or four) per week, before selecting from a collection of restaurant dish recipes and exclusive recipes by chefs that have been crafted just for Make-Out Meals. The recipes range from the more indulgent to the light and fresh with options for vegetarian and pescatarian diets including Tipico’s pumpkin, gorgonzola and walnut risotto, Bomba’s skirt steak, La Tortilleria’s fish tacos, Babajan’s charred broccoli and ISH’s eggplant curry.
Each meal kit arrives packed with fresh, pre-portioned ingredients and easy-to-follow recipe cards. Some recipes which require secret sauces, spice mixes, stock or other items that can’t be found at a supermarket will be prepared specially by each venue and included in the kits, making it even easier to create some of the dishes.
Budding chefs and foodies can take their dinner game and cook along with chefs like Daniele Colombo (Tipico) and Andrew Fisk (Bomba) via instructional video tutorials for select recipe dishes. Customers will also have access to a weekly live cook-along, exclusive video tips and tricks, restaurant and recipe insights and an online chat function, providing the best level of support possible.
The price of each meal kit ranges from $10.56 per serve to $14.75 per serve, and delivery is a flat fee of $10 for Melbourne Metro and $15 for Geelong and Mornington Peninsula.
“I wanted to create a long-term solution that gives back to the restaurants directly, so every time one of their recipes is chosen, they get a cut of the revenue. While regular operations are restricted for so many of the venues, Make-Out Meals is a new opportunity for them to reach more Victorians that they might not be able to with take-away only and at an accessible price that makes it an option for more than once a week” added Green.
Orders for Make-Out Meals can be made via www.makeoutmeals.com.au from Monday 31 August. Orders will be cut off at 5pm every Friday*, to be delivered directly to customers the following Wednesday via cold freight.
