Innocent Bystander, Healesville-based winemaker and purveyor of deliciousness, is paying homage to the humble sausage at its upcoming Sausage Fest, to be held on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th February at its urban cellar door, restaurant and bar located in the picturesque Yarra Valley.
Innocent Bystander, known for its relaxed personality, and for producing seriously good wine without the pretention, is teaming up with a local Yarra Valley butcher The Beef Joint to host a weekend filled with small goods, fine meats and great wine.
Focused on all things sausage, guests will be treated to a pizza menu inspired by the wonderful world of snags such as crowd favourites chorizo, calabrese and morcilla, and of course plenty of wine (and beer) from Innocent Bystander’s cellar to get everyone in the mood.
For the real snag aficionados, Ben the Butcher will be hosting a sausage-making masterclass from 4.00pm-5.30pm on Sunday 10th February. For $40 per person, enjoy a glass of Innocent Bystander wine, bites on arrival, and learn the tricks of the trade to making your dream sausage, including learning about the different types of sausages, the best cuts of meat to use and the process of making sausages (and salami). Each guest will also make their own sausages to take home.
Ben believes in preparing food in a simple and unpretentious way and has more than 19 years of experience as a butcher working in Australia, NZ and the UK. Masterclass spaces are limited, with just 24 tickets available.
But of course it wouldn’t be a Sausage Fest without the chance to win a meat tray. Visitors can enter a raffle for the chance to win a gourmet meat tray from The Beef Joint along with Innocent Bystander wines, with proceeds being generously donated to the CFA.
With all of this meaty-fun going on, vegetarians needn’t fret, there will be plenty of meat-free and vegan options on the menu.
Rounding off the festival, guests can enjoy all of Innocent Bystander’s wines on tap and entertainment thanks to a DJ all weekend long.
