We are well and truly in the midst of the festive season and with that comes end of year celebrations and an expectation of endless events and socialising with the bubbly flowing alongside.
However, a recent triennial survey conducted by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare recently found that the number of people who ditched the drink rose from 1,500,000 to 1,900,000 over a three-year period, which could signal that some people this holiday season are seeking alternatives to a glass of wine or a schooner of beer.
Shedding light on the Gen Sober movement, Nutritionist, health and wellness expert and mum of three, Kathleen Alleaume, says there are many reasons why people are choosing to go alcohol free this holiday season, and it’s not only to avoid a hangover.
“The idea of spending the weekend drinking and recovering is no longer the choice for many, and non-alcoholic beverages that still feel like an adult drink are in high demand. Australians are far more in tune with their mental and physical wellbeing and we value our sleep, mood and physical health far more,” Ms Alleaume says.
There are a number of physical and mental health benefits for giving up alcohol including a better night’s sleep. “As alcohol lengthens the time it takes to fall asleep and increases the likelihood of sleep disruptions, people find that minimising or cutting out alcohol completely does wonders for their energy levels. During the busy season, we know rest and good sleep is something everyone values,” Ms Alleaume adds.
Just in time for the holidays, T2 has released a range of mocktail-inspired cold brews that will indulge anyone’s tastebuds for those looking for an alcohol-free beverage.
With T2’s range of refreshing and fruity cold brew teas, including the subtle and juicy White Peach Spritz, the soft and fragrant Pink Juniper Sling, and the mouth-watering and bodacious Strawberry Margarita, you can be sure everyone will be after a glass of what you’re having.
“As the trend to cut back or cut out alcohol is on the rise, coming into summer and the holiday season, T2’s range of cold brewed teas inspired by popular cocktail mixes, is a great option for those who want to indulge their tastebuds with something that shouts summer. These are a great alternative as they help us stay hydrated and we know tea-based drinks are full of antioxidants that have multiple benefits for our health,” Ms Alleaume shares.
