South Yarra locals’ prayers are answered; much-loved brunch venue House of Lulu White is launching Lulu Afterdark, including an eclectic new menu and range of funky night offers.
Located on the bustling Yarra Street in Melbourne’s South Yarra, Lulu White has been the day queen of the bottomless brunch for five years. Now it’s time for her to spread the wings and become the lady of the night! House of Lulu White is the place to go for espresso shots in the morning and espresso martinis after dark.
Newly appointed head chef, Sornram Phadungphot (known as Men), is ready to shake things up and create a unique offering at House of Lulu White. Taking the offer to the next level, Men has curated a menu highlighting quality produce and reflective of his diverse experience in the kitchen. Relocating from Thailand to Australia in 2006, food is in Men’s blood with a Thai chef for a Mum. Men comes to the table with a wealth of experience under his belt, including roles at Congress Wine and Park Street Dining, with his new menu taking inspiration from modern Australian, Asian and European cuisine.
Lulu Afterdark will indulge patrons into a world of great sharing food, bar bites, good wines and top-notch cocktails. The array of small and large plates are designed to share, with small dishes including Burrata with roasted apple, tomato marmalade and almond tuile, torched Atlantic salmon with poppyseed dressing and pickled daikon, Korean chilli and prawn crackers, and Parmesan doughnut with smoked eel, and pickled celery. The robust large plates include a build your own Bao with Confit Duck Leg, buttermilk and tahini dressing, prune and passionfruit and Lamb Rump with beets caponata and royal blue potato gratin.
Sweet tooths won’t be disappointed, with indulgent dessert options including Blackberry, milk pudding, dulce de leche and butter crumble, and Caramelised figs and mascarpone sandwich, burnt milk tuile, cacao powder and bay leaf oil. Lulu’s signature cocktails will continue to be a mainstay with crowd favourites, including Salted Caramel Cold Brew Martini and Candy Fantasy – a mix of pink gin, Chambord, Baitz Strawberry and pineapple juice garnished with a nostalgic sour strap and 100s and 1000s. A wine list of Australian drops from Heathcote to the Margaret River rounds out the menu.
With Happy Hour every Thursday and Friday, a Fill Me Up menu offer, an All-In two hour drinks offer and now music every night with Afterdark, Managing Director of Legacy Hospitality Group, Ben Avramides, is excited to welcome the change and new direction with the launch of Lulu Afterdark, while maintaining that warming buzz the venue is known for currently.
