COVID-19 has wreaked havoc on our lifestyles – we’re staying in (and we implore you to, as well). Life has changed. Drastically. While it’s not permanent, it’s a big shift, and we’re all feeling it. While you’re doing the right thing (spatial and social distancing + self isolating), we’re updating you with what you need to know about all the things you love. How you can still eat, drink, consume, watch and buy the things that bring you joy. How you can continue to support Australian businesses and artists. How you can stay amused, active, educated and entertained at home. How we can all stay connected to the things that make us us.
Expect nothing but a good time at Good Times Milk Bar with their new take away only Taqueria Pop-up – Tropico Taqueria. Now that’s what i’m taco-in about.
Two years in and our friends at Good Times Milk Bar are reinventing the wheel from their street window. Previously slinging burgers, shakes and sides known as ‘GT Burgers,’ they have decided to scratch a long time itch with an offering that is cheerful, honest and bloody tasty, titled Tropico Taqueria.
Head Chef Camilla Araya has tapped into her Latin American heritage while developing ‘flavours that are close to her heart and that pack-a-punch,’ with a focus on five varieties of soft shell tacos; pollo, chanchito, asada, gamba and papa dulce (vegan). Quesadillas have of course been included in the new mexican menu and chargrilled sweet corn, paprika gems and crowd favourite guacamole will round out the offering. To spice things up, house made salsas are encouraged and will add a kick to every bite.
New Taqueria items include:
- Pollo Taco - Slow cooked free-range chicken thigh, poblano chilli, iceberg lettuce, guacamole, pico de gallo
- Chorizo Quesadilla - Monterey Jack cheese, black bean, pico de gallo with chorizo
- Guacamole with tortillas
- Papa Dulce Taco - Sweet potato, onion chutney, black bean, chipotle mayo, cashew cheese
- Spicy paprika gems with parmesan, chipotle aioli
- Kids mini Mexican menu – tacos and corn
Tropico Taqueria will be dishing up for takeaway out-the-window. They will also have cocktails for days including frozen, classic and Tommy’s margs.
GTMB would never create a menu without thinking of the kids and have a mini mexican feast for them to make a mess of.
It’s taco time!
