Nostalgia is on the menu at Bistro Guillaume across the next two months, as the Riverwalk restaurant celebrates a decade as one of Melbourne’s much loved dining institutions. Led by acclaimed chef Guillaume Brahimi, the restaurant that carries his name will host a range of festivities to celebrate, including a retrospect of some of its most popular dishes over the last ten years – many of which will return from the vault for a limited-time only.
From 5 May through to 30 June, guests can relish in the ‘Le Favori’ menu, which showcases a curated selection of Guillaume’s favourite ten dishes, each with a personal story from the French-born chef.
From the quintessential Steak Frites that have starred on the menu since its opening day, to the restaurant’s signature Paris Mash, to the most-ordered entrée of the last ten years; the Roquefort Soufflé, right through to Guillaume’s favourite dessert since childhood; the Lemon Tart, the menu is set to take diners on a decade-long journey of French cuisine.
“10 years of hospitality is something to celebrate. “The industry has seen many changes and challenges across the last decade – from evolving dining trends and the introduction of delivery services, to the repercussions of a global pandemic, a lot has changed but the hallmarks of traditional French bistro dining remain. We are so proud to be toasting to ten years, while continuing to create memorable dining experiences for our guests,” says Brahimi.
Acknowledging another industry hit hard by COVID-19, Bistro Guillaume is also using the milestone as an opportunity to give back to the philanthropic sector. Customers are invited to help give back by purchasing tickets to a dining experience with a special purpose on Tuesday, 25 May and Thursday, 27 May, raising funds for the Children’s Cancer Foundation.
Bistro Guillaume and Crown Melbourne have pledged their support to the charity and will be matching donations as part of the milestone celebrations.
The special dining experiences will see guests feast on a four-course menu designed to hero Bistro Guillaume’s most popular dishes since inception, alongside canapés, petit fours and matched wines, all while enjoying the ambience of live French music by La Nuit Blanche.
“Many charities were unable to host their major fundraising events throughout 2020, which meant donations plummeted, while need only increased. The Children’s Cancer Foundation is just one of these charities. Having worked with this organisation for many years, I wanted to dedicate my milestone to raising some much-needed funds and helping them recover some of what has been lost throughout 2020,” says Brahimi.
Trained under Michelin-starred Chef Joel Robuchon in Paris before moving to Australia in 1990, Brahimi first won acclaim with his Sydney Opera House restaurant Guillaume at Bennelong. Following its success, Brahimi united with Crown Melbourne to launch Bistro Guillaume on the Southbank Riverwalk, which has been delighting Melbourne diners since.
