Portsea Hotel is set to light up the Mornington Peninsula when it welcomes its inaugural Winter Lights pop up this Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
Enlisting the help of renowned visual artist Carla O’Brien, the venue’s famous beer garden will be brought to life by an awe-inspiring LED light installation featuring a pooch friendly Neon Dog Park and other Instagrammable highlights.
According to Colonial Leisure Group General Manager Scott Elvery, Carla’s signature art piece, NEON ANGEL WINGS, will undoubtedly be a crowd favourite.
“We’re so thrilled to welcome Carla to Portsea Hotel for the long weekend. Her work is loved globally, especially her angel wings installation. It has been a key attraction at two White Night Melbourne events, as well as the world renowned Burning Man Festival in the US, so to be able to bring it to the Peninsula is very exciting,” said Scott.
Using LED Neon Flex (a revolutionary replacement for traditional glass neon), Carla uses her talent to imagine breathtaking installations at festivals, events, restaurants, as well as private commissions.

Open to the public, the family-friendly attraction welcomes locals and visitors to the Peninsula to indulge in some of the season’s ultimate winter warmers to help keep the cold at bay.
“From marshmallows sticks to a DIY sundae station with warm chocolate fountain, we hope kids (and parents) can indulge in the season’s best comfort food,” said Scott.
The over 18s are not forgotten with housemade mulled wine and cider on hand to warm the soul, while live acoustic music will bring the venue’s Longshore room to life on Saturday 8 June.
Portsea Hotel’s Winter Lights pop up will run from Friday 7 June – Monday 10 June, with the venue open from 11am – 1am Friday to Saturday and 11am – 11pm Sunday to Monday.
