Andreas and Annie Martinu have opened their highly anticipated new venture, Rogue District in Brunswick.
Formally known as the Jelly Stone Café, the brother-and-sister duo have revamped the historical bluestone cottage with a new kitchen, furnishings and outdoor awnings.
Given the cottage originally housed the Pentridge Jail Warden, the space was well loved by locals. “We wanted to keep the original features but update the kitchen and include communal seating areas for a better dining experience”, says Andreas. Rogue District has achieved just that, with the outdoor area overlooking the beautiful Warr Park.
The pair also runs Reverence Coffee Roasters, so it’s no surprise that it has a prominent spot on the café’s menu, with fresh bags available for patrons to take home.
Tucked just away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney Road, Rogue District is the perfect spot for your Sunday morning coffee. But if coffee’s not your thing, not to fear – as the delicious menu is sure to tantalize taste buds thanks to head of kitchen Sungsik Masicap (Rock Salt and Melbourne Oyster Bar) along with sous chef Ariel Musical (Seven Seeds and Nobu).
The team hopes to open for evening dining in the near future, but for now, head over for breakfast or lunch – and make sure to Instagram the french toast.
The space is also available for large group bookings or private events.
Rogue District is located at 179 Albion Street, Brunswick and is open 7 days, Monday – Friday 7.30am-4pm and on weekends 8am-5pm.
