The world’s largest pasta producer, Barilla, has brought its ‘La Collezione’ egg pasta range to Australian shores, which has one of the highest egg contents of any pasta on the market.
Available as pappardelle and tagliatelle, La Collezione egg pasta has an egg content of at least 28 percent, giving it a taste and texture comparable to fresh pasta that you can enjoy at home.
The inclusion of egg in the pasta dramatically affects its texture and flavour profile. The high percentage of egg in La Collezione products creates a silky smooth texture and rich flavour unlike any other dry pasta product.
Comparatively, most other egg pasta products available in Australia have an egg content between two and nine percent.
Having trialled the new La Collezione range, chef and director of two-hatted Biota restaurant, James Viles, says Barilla offers Australians an egg pasta experience far superior to its competitors.
“I think any pasta lover will be surprised at the significant difference in quality between Barilla’s new pappardelle and tagliatelle, and other egg pastas on the market.
“Barilla has developed a dried pasta product that is unparalleled in Australia – it holds together so well during cooking, the elasticity of the pasta is remarkable and most importantly, it tastes just like fresh egg pasta,” commented Mr Viles.
I may not be a chef, but I can tell you this; the pasta is delicious. The closest thing to homemade I’ve ever tried. It’s smooth, wholesome and hearty.
Proudly committed to environmental sustainability, Barilla only uses sustainably sourced products, including cage free eggs in the production of its pasta products. The hens come from approved farms that undergo strict testing to ensure the eggs are ethically produced.
Barilla is also so passionate about its egg pasta products, it lobbied the Australian government to change quarantine laws to allow such a high egg content product into the country.
Barilla’s new La Collezione pappardelle and tagliatelle are now available in 250g packs from Woolworths stores nationally and a range of independent grocers at $4.00 RRP.
