Australia’s biggest food truck carnival tour is launching across suburban Melbourne this Summer, serving up a taste of Melbourne’s legendary diverse, vibrant food truck scene to almost a dozen suburbs across the city’s outskirts.
Running from November 2016 to April 2017, the carnivals will offer a selection of mouth-watering international dishes as well as a range of entertainment options, including live music, amusement rides, carnival games, kid’s activities and even eating competitions.
Event organiser Danny Grant said that the Food Truck Carnivals will kick off with Knox, Doncaster and Gippsland in 2016.
“We attracted 50,000 people to our inaugural Food Truck Carnival in Berwick in March and thought it would be an awesome event to bring to other communities across Melbourne’s outskirts.”
“It’s a great opportunity for locals to experience a premium range of cuisines that aren’t normally available.”
“We are trying to build a breathtaking carnival atmosphere for people of all ages to enjoy. People can sit back and enjoy their delicious food with an ice cold beer, jump on one of the rides or maybe watch some balloon-twisters and stilt walkers with the kids.”
Uruguayan-inspired food truck El Chivi will be one of many vendors at the carnivals, serving deliciously authentic chivito’s (steak sandwiches).
Owners Marty and Anna Eppel love bringing a piece of their culture to Melbourne.
“Since my family relocated in the 70’s we have never seen anywhere else try and recreate these amazing steak sandwiches!”
Take your tastebuds on a trip around the world with a range of cuisines to choose from including Indian, Spanish, Taiwanese, Greek, Italian, Korean, Brazilian and more.
To bring a bit of extra magic to the outskirts of Melbourne, the events are free to enter, and gold coin donations to the Kid’s Carnival Areas will go directly to the Monash Children’s Hospital to raise funds and awareness towards children’s healthcare.
