Australian Eggs is hosting a nationwide hunt to uncover Australia’s best egg dishes to feature in an all-egg pop-up restaurant, along with Manu Feildel who will help handpick the final dishes.
Manu is asking the public to nominate their favourite egg dish from an Australian café or restaurant which showcases the deliciousness and diversity of eggs – from a mouth-watering Shakshuka found at a super- secret place in Lakemba or a life-changing carbonara on Lygon Street, the all-egg pop-up restaurant aims to celebrate the joy of eggs cooked in a variety of ways.
Following the public nominations, Manu will then pick his top four dishes which will be celebrated in a ‘d- egg-ustation’ pop-up restaurant on the eve of World Egg Day, where the public will be tasked with tasting and testing each dish to help crown the winner of the 2019 Eggsellence Awards.

We are really lucky to have a star like Manu lead this nationwide hunt to find Australia’s best egg dishes as part of a world first ‘d-egg-ustation’ pop-up restaurant.”
Manu Feildel says: “Eggs are a staple in my cooking, and I love coming up with new ways to enjoy them with my family for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s incredible how creative you can be with eggs – there are so many talented chefs, restaurants and cafés who are creating delicious egg dishes based on tradition, cultural influences and trends. I can’t wait to see all the dishes that the public nominate, and I am excited to see which final four will feature at the egg pop-up restaurant!”
Voting for the best egg dish will take place during five restaurant sittings on 10 October and the winner of the 2019 Eggsellence Awards will be announced at 9:00am AEDT on World Egg Day (11 October 2019). Details on how people can secure their seat at the ‘d-egg-ustation’ pop-up restaurant will be announced on 27 September.
How to nominate your favourite egg dish
To nominate your favourite egg dish, simply post a photo of the dish on Instagram using the hashtag #Eggsellence2019 and tell us in 25 words or less why the dish deserves to be crowned the best in Australia. If your nominated dish makes it to the top four dishes, you could be rewarded with a $1,000 gift card (T&Cs apply). Nominations close on 22nd September 11:59pm AEST.
