COVID-19 has wreaked havoc on our lifestyles – we’re staying in (and we implore you to, as well). Life has changed. Drastically. While it’s not permanent, it’s a big shift, and we’re all feeling it. While you’re doing the right thing (spatial and social distancing + self isolating), we’re updating you with what you need to know about all the things you love. How you can still eat, drink, consume, watch and buy the things that bring you joy. How you can continue to support Australian businesses, artists, creators, makers and more. How you can stay amused, active, educated and entertained at home. How we can all stay connected to the things that make us us.
The flame at Firebird by Hanoi Hannah is burning once again with the launch of ‘Mighty Duck Fridays’.
Set to be an instant hit, Firebird’s ‘Mighty Duck’ is a Vietnamese take on the classic French dish Duck a l’Orange, with 30 serves available for pre-order and collection each week, from Friday 15 May and every Friday after that.
Taking four-days to prepare, Head Chef Steven Ngo (prev. Long Chim) brines, marinates, and stuffs each Mighty Duck with spring onions, lemongrass, garlic cloves, sesame oil and oyster sauce, before slowly roasting them with burnt orange zest and five-spices in Firebird’s custom-built oven.
Each Mighty Duck also comes with a side of egg noodles tossed in chive oil, gai lan, and Ngo’s special sauce – a reduction of the cooking juices, a grilled orange and pickled ginger.
