East Gippsland’s growing reputation as an emerging foodie hotspot will be further boosted in the coming months as festival season kicks off in the region, showcasing the best of the area’s award-winning restaurants, local produce, cool-climate wines and locally-crafted beer.
It started with The Bruthen Blues & Arts Festival on February 10 and concludes in May with the Nullamunjie Harvest Festival – where locally-produced food, wine and music will be served overlooking the olive groves and the spectacular Tambo Valley.

In between, there are seafood festivals, the East Gippsland Food, Wine & Beer Festival, and even a festival that celebrates the culinary delights to be found from the region’s foraged foods and feral animals.
East Gippsland’s festival of festivals also gives visitors the opportunity to stay at some of the area’s boutique, luxury and family accommodation and dine at some of its award-winning eateries, including Paynesville’s “hatted” restaurant, Sardine Eatery & Bar and foodie favourites such as Northern Ground, Albert & Co and The Long Paddock.

There are dozens of other foodie gems dotted throughout the region, as well as boutique brewers and stunning wineries, such as Lightfoot & Sons, just outside Bairnsdale.
East Gippsland’s festival season, timed to coincide with the best of the region’s climate, provides the perfect opportunity to discover all the culinary delights and foodie hot spots in the region, while enjoying great music, stunning scenery and a lively festival atmosphere.
