Pint of Origin, one of Melbourne’s most anticipated beer festivals, is set to return for its thirteenth year from May 9 to 18.
Explore the world of craft beer across 23 of Melbourne’s best pubs, bars, and breweries. Championing the best drops both locally and internationally – some brewed in the same building they’re being served, others travelling almost 17,000km – the event is set to showcase the biggest collection of beers at any Australian festival.
Pint of Origin is designed as a choose-your-own-adventure experience: attendees can travel between venues, exploring beers from across Australia and around the world. Across the ten days, around 800 beers from more than 200 breweries will hit taps across Melbourne.
Created by the team at local independent beer publication The Crafty Pint, Pint of Origin made its debut as part of Good Beer Week in 2012, quickly becoming one of the most popular elements of the globally-recognised festival. At a time when many major events have fallen away, Pint of Origin is defying the odds amid the cost-of-living crisis: there’s no admission fee for the majority of the festival’s offerings, and festival-goers can choose how far they want to travel the world of beer.
To assist attendees on their voyage of discovery, The Crafty Pint has created a digital passport, which gives users access to free beers and prizes worth thousands, as well as mini-crawls to help guide them between host venues – read more about the digital passports here.
The concept is simple: 23 venues each host a different region of Australia, country or part of the world for ten days, turning over their taps and fridges to beers from their chosen region. They also put on events including themed tap takeovers, dinners, pairing events, trivia, run clubs, and collaboration launches.
Around 800 different beers (many of them exclusive and never before seen in Australia before) will be poured over the 10 days at the 23 venues.

“The local beer and hospitality industries continue to struggle in the face of ongoing economic challenges and the cost-of-living crisis, making festivals like Pint of Origin are a great way of getting behind venues and breweries while having fun,” says James Smith, Crafty Pint Founder and Creator of the Pint of Origin Festival.
“We’ve got another fantastic lineup of bars, pubs and breweries in 2025, plus plenty for those looking for more than beer. There’s some amazing foodie experiences on offer and, following the introduction of a Boilermaker Hub in 2024, Captain Melville in the Melbourne CBD will be showcasing their amazing beer cocktails too.”
