Streat is one of Australia’s leading social enterprises. They have been providing quality coffee and changing lives simultaneously in Melbourne since 2012.
The company’s sole mission is to help disadvantaged and homeless youths find their place in society and overcome the adversity they face. Since the beginning of Streat, over 2 million coffees have been served which equates to 52,000 hours of training, and over 800 youths haves been helped with their services.
In fact, to be precise, there are 21 ways in which Streat Coffee contributes positively to society. Here are just a couple of my favourites:
- For every 10 coffees you drink, a free one goes to a homeless person helped by the Salvos
- They pay fair wages to coffee growers from around the world, and;
- The coffee beans sourced globally are done so sustainably and organically
So it’s safe to say that Streat is an empowering organisation, and it’s inspiring to see the work they do and the passion that goes into all of their processes.
Streat have recently teamed up with Pod and Parcel, for a match made in (coffee) heaven.
Pod and Parcel have always tried to be as environmentally friendly as possible since their inception. Previously having been recyclable due to the lack of available technology, as soon as it was possible to be completely biodegradable, they were among the first to jump on the opportunity. Each Pod and Parcel coffee pod only takes on average 9 days to fully breakdown, compared to aluminium pods which can take from 400-500 years to breakdown.
Now paired up with Streat Coffee, both companies are working together to create a coffee experience that doesn’t cost the Earth. As consumers, and in a society of mad coffee fanatics, it’s important that we do the best we can to look after our environment, and there’s never been a tastier way to do so.
Pod and Parcel pods with Streat Coffee are available from www.podandparcel.com.au, so jump online and do your bit to help those in need and get your coffee fix.
