Situated at 129 Fitzroy Street St Kilda, Mockingbird is tucked within the marbled entrance of historic building, The George, and indeed, it is a step back to 1920’s Paris with moody velvet curtains, trompe l’oeil walls, romantic soft lighting, wrought iron detailing and a big bay window to spy on the passing foot traffic.
George Lentzos, owner of Mockingbird, has kindly agreed to share a series of cocktail recipes for Onya Magazine readers. The second in the series is the Atticus Finch, named after the fictional character in Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird.
MOCKINGBIRD COCKTAIL
Atticus Finch
Ingredients:
15ml sloe gin
30ml dark rum
15ml peach schnapps
15ml lime juice
Method:
Combine all ingredients in boston glass shaker
Shake then double strain into a pre-chilled cocktail glass
Can you picture it now, Atticus Finch, sitting in his leather chair, the tireless crusader for good causes, the high standing, moral fuelled gentleman, open-minded and intelligent, kicking back after a long day with a drink named after him? I can see it. It’s a drink he’d love. In fact, tonight I’m making one, in tribute to my favourite fictional character.
