Back at work and already counting down to your next holiday? We feel ya. It’s the worst feeling being in the office when summer is still in full swing and the closest you can get to the sunshine is watching it through the window. The good news is that we have a solution – the ultimate Sunday session.
The perfect antidote to the horrible “Gah it’s Monday tomorrow” feeling that creeps up on you pretty much as soon as Saturday is finished, a Sunday Session can be as sophisticated or wild as you let it get. I love them as an excuse to catch up with the girls – who can go wrong with good company, sunshine, a cheeseboard and bountiful bottles of something alcoholic?
The perfect starting point? Brown Brother’s new Moscato Gold Range. Refreshing and fruity, it perfectly encapsulates the wonderful free and fun feeling of summer.
We spoke to Brown Brothers Brand Manager Katherine Brown to find out what makes this Moscato such an ideal summer drink and the best food to go with it.
Katherine Brown, Brown Brothers
What makes Moscato such a popular drink for summer?
Moscato has all the flavours of summer-ripened grapes. This grape variety naturally smells like musk, which is how it got the name, Muscat. Crisp and fruity, this is the perfect wine for summer because it is so refreshing.
There’s something that feels and tastes luxurious about Brown Brother’s two new Moscato White Gold and Moscato Rose Gold wines – what sets them apart from others already on the market?
The Brown Brothers Moscato Gold Range is a true expression of the very best winemaking skills that can be utilised when working with Muscat grapes. This exquisite premium Moscato range is crafted from hand-selected parcels of the traditional Muscat of Alexandria with a hint of Orange Muscat to give it body and perfume.
Tell us a little about the flavours in the Moscato White Gold and Moscato Rose Gold.
Moscato White Gold has hints of orange blossom and sherbet aromas, lingering silky texture and refreshing palate, with a wonderful increase in the frizzante of the original Moscato. Moscato Rose Gold is a touch drier in style and has hints of rose petal and flavours of Turkish delight.
What kind of occasions should we be cracking out bottles of these two wines?
The Moscato Gold range has been created to celebrate the special things in life. This wine is best shared with friends or a loved one either at home relaxing or having a luxury moment out and about. This range of wines is also available in gift boxes and promise to be the perfect gift over the summer season.
We reckon the range is perfect for a cheeky Sunday session in the sun – what kind of food do you recommend serving alongside the Moscato?
Summer is the best time of year for fresh and delicious treats that will match perfectly with Moscato White Gold and Moscato Rose Gold wines. Try ripe rockmelon wrapped in cured ham or fresh prawns with a wasabi mayonnaise. If serving these wines for brunch, pancakes with a mixed berry coulis will be the perfect complement.
Keeping the holiday vibe going for as long as possible? A winning way to stop thinking about work on Monday – at least until the wine runs out.
