One of Melbourne’s newest bars, Bourke Street Green, at 501 Bourke Street, opened its doors in September. Nestled in the heart of the city, Bourke Street Green is an oasis in the concrete jungle where you can explore and taste your way through everything local.
Bourke Street Green stays regional with menus featuring drinks and bites from across Victoria. The seasonal menus are more than just a curation of Victoria’s best ingredients, introducing unexpected twists to modern classics. From gin-infused watermelon to arancini flights paired with locally brewed beers, Bourke Street Green delivers new pairings that hero the very best of Melbourne and Victoria.
The venue includes what is perhaps Bourke Street Green’s most distinctly Melburnian feature: a retractable roof for the outdoor courtyard bar, creating a year-round, modern, light-filled gathering place. The venue was designed by Bates Smart, whose work includes spots like The Fat Duck, Hilton Little Queen Street, Melbourne’s Crown Metropol, and Fairfax’s head office, Media House.
The refined fit-out isn’t the only important part of the new space, though – hometown pride arguably plays an even more central role to the setting and experience of Bourke Street Green. The venue will partner with the very best Victorian musicians and entertainers as well as the best local producers to create regular events that highlight the best that this state has to offer, generating experiences that are just as locally focused as the menu.
The bar is open Mondays through Fridays, 11.30am till late, making it an ideal space for lunchtime bites and after-work drinks. It’s also open Saturdays, 11am till late, offering endless trapizzinos, brews and cocktails for 90-minute sessions at $59 per head.
