Landing in Bentleigh for a good time, not a long time, are the creators of the one and only Strawberry Watermelon Cake, Black Star Pastry. The team will be setting up shop from Good Times Milk Bar’s dedicated pop-up window from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th July, bringing Melbourne’s Bayside an unmissable taste of Sydney’s most iconic cakes.
For those craving a ‘watermelon sugar high’ (as Harry Styles put it), the Black Star Pastry team will be serving up single slices of the famous Strawberry Watermelon Cake – layered with almond dacquoise, rose-scented cream and fresh watermelon – as well as larger portions for four, six and ten people. Also on the menu is the crowd favourite Raspberry Lychee Cake, plus a Japanese Forest Cake and Black Star’s moreish Chocolate Mirage Cake.

The world’s most Instagrammed cake. Layers of almond dacquoise, rose scented cream and watermelon, topped with strawberries, pistachios and dried rose petals.
Raspberry Lychee Cake (Single Serve $10)
Built upon a rich chocolate biscuit foundation, layers of raspberry marshmallow and rose scented cream create a delicious balance of texture and flavour. A top layer of lychees and raspberries bring a sweet succulent freshness to the finish.
Japanese Forest Cake (Single Serve $10)
Layers of hojicha sponge, Choya confit ume fruits in umeshu infused cream, and garnished with matcha moss, leaves and bark of dark chocolate and confit whole ume. A Japanese take on the classic forest cake.
Chocolate Mirage Cake (Single Serve $10)
The most decadent cake Black Star Pastry has ever created is layered with salted caramel chocolate, flourless choc sponge, dark chocolate cremeux and a light chocolate mousse.
