Red Hill Brewery has been one of my favourite spots to enjoy a beer for a long time, so it’s a grand shame that they made the decision to close their restaurant and bar.
Of course we understand the reasons for this closure, but for those of us that are very selfish (mainly me…) it’s unfortunate that one of the better places to enjoy a beer has been closed.
Closed for regular service, that is. They will open from time to time to host a particular event, and I can only imagine that these will be incredibly popular events.
One such reason for the closure is to allow them to concentrate on, and make more, beer.
Can’t really argue with that, can you?
This is a product of that focus. The new batch of their Belgian Blonde ale.
A subtle, sweet, spicy alliteration of aroma leads you into this little ditty.
The yeast is on show in this with an initial spice to the flavour, which is based on some sweet malt with a lovely rich mouthfeel. Spice all the way, and the yeast also gives off some really fruity esters that balance this out. Highly drinkable, but at 6.5% ABV you probably wouldn’t have this as your session choice.
It’s tasting better now than I’ve ever had, so this one will certainly be popular around town.
