1. Women talk more than men
Some women could talk the hind legs off a donkey, it’s true. And so can some men. There’s an oft quoted statistic that mentions women speak an average of 20,000 words per day, and men 7,000 words per day. But that’s just one study. Plenty of others have shown that men actually talk more than women.
2. Women prefer beefy guys
Contrary to popular belief, beefy and ultra-masculine men aren’t necessarily sexier to women. According to one piece of research, women are drawn to slim men with about 12% overall body fat. But all women have different tastes and find all sorts of men attractive.
3. Feminist women aren’t good at love or sex
An outdated idea among some people is that feminists hate men and despise sex. That’s nonsense according to research. This shows that women who identify as feminists are more likely to be in a heterosexual relationship than women who don’t identify as feminists. Also, men who reported that their partner was a feminist had more satisfying sex life compared to men who didn’t.
4. Women want the whole package
The ideal of the big fairy tale wedding and children may still be a dream for some women. However recent research indicates that men are just as likely as women to want to become committed.
5. Women like dating bad guys
The archetypal jerk is supposedly attractive to women, right? Actually, it’s the nice guys who finish first! A 2008 study published by the British Journal of Psychology showed that women found signs of altruism attractive, such as working in the Not for Profit sector or volunteering.
6. Women are attracted to risk-takers
Guys who think that base jumping or driving a fast car is a turn on should take heed. Some research indicates that women prefer cautious people for partners rather than daredevils.
7. You won’t meet cool women through online dating
Back in the old days, online dating was seen as a bit of a risky enterprise. Nowadays, online dating is booming and according to one report by the University of Rochester, there’s no signs of it slowing down. It’s the second most common way for people to meet each other after meeting through friends.
8. Women want to be the centre of your life
That’s another outdated notion. By giving her a starring role in your life it doesn’t mean that she wants to exclude everybody else. Compelling evidence from a recent study indicates that 77% women actually prefer having more personal space and independence, compared to only 58% of men.
9. Women can’t deal with emotion as well as men
Women are supposed to be more delicate and deeply wounded after arguments and break ups, right? Actually research has shown that women have a larger support network to blow off steam about it. Men are more likely to internalise it and are more emotionally affected by relationship drama.
10. Women are complete romantics
While there are plenty of romantic women out there. It seems that it’s the men who really have stars in their eyes. A recent dating survey revealed that while 48% of men have fallen in love at first sight, women are more cautious and pragmatic, 28% of them could say the same.
