Thanks for taking the time to chat to us, Tahir. Are you excited to start performing in A Very Woggy Christmas?
These days I love being part of any show where there are other comedians involved as I tend to perform a fair bit on my own. Not only that, all the comedians in this show are also my mates.
What exactly makes a woggy Christmas different from a non-woggy Christmas?
As usual, wogs do everything in extremes. A woggy Christmas is a big production. 3 goats, 2 lambs, 25 chickens, a bathtub full of salad, enough drinks to last a year and some toothpicks of course. All this to feed the 258 cousins.
How will you be enjoying your Christmas this year?
Like I do every year … working! December is a busy time for comedians so during Christmas I sleep.
Multiculturalism is such an important and defining factor in Australian culture. Are there challenges associated with living in Australia but having a different and rich cultural background of your own?
Australia is such a diverse and multicultural country that times have changed. For the most part, Australians are very accepting. We are celebrating multiculturalism through our comedy and stories. We make fun of ourselves and guess what – that is Australian humour.
What do you love about Australia?
I have been lucky enough to travel to quite a few countries and I’m not sure people understand or even appreciate just how lucky we really are in this great nation. There is much to do and see. We are down to earth but more than that Australians have a unique spirit. In times of need we are always happy to help out neighbours and even strangers. This is the Aussie way. Our food, produce, countryside, people and the opportunities this country provides truly makes it the best in the world.
Where are your favourite places to travel to within Australia?
Anything along the coast of Australia is always spectacular. I have spent a lot of time in the cities so I love visiting country towns. Parkes during January and the Elvis festival is always a highlight. Uluru with its magical colours and landscape really brings things back to basics. The lights of the Gold Coast. But my favourite place in the world is Manly beach – has it all.
