While the clothes may have been predominately black, white and grey there was nothing bleak about the forecasting fashion showcased at The Miss Vogue runway. Featuring some of Australia’s top talent, the lineup included Scanlan & Theodore, Josh Goot, Christopher Esber, Bassike, Willow, Toni Maticevski and the Tiffany and Co National Designer’s Award winners Strateas.Carlucci. Monochrome is definitely the memo to take away, save for the burst of lavender presented by Maticevski, in a gorgeously elegant funnel neck coat. While ensembles may be all one colour, it’s made interesting with the combination of different materials and texture.
We can expect a more demure season ahead, with longer lengths and higher necks a common theme among the designers – but that doesn’t mean prim and boring. Cheeky sheer lace cut outs a la Willow and Esber, a super close fit and flashes of leg will be the provocative details to display. Sports-luxe is also sticking around, albeit with a high fashion update – think boxy shaped jumpers in neoprene materials, and snapbacks and sneakers paired with billowing skirts and dresses.
The overall vibe of the show was young, up and coming and powerful – like many of the designers featured as well as the magazine itself. And as the models strutted their stuff to Beyonce’s ‘Run The World’ in the finale, the attitude was certainly infectious.
