As far as I can tell, this coming autumn promises to be a crazy one.
Stylists and designers have gone crazy, with many looks that you have been told are a “no-no” becoming the height of fashion. There is no stopping spring this year and it is going to be WILD! Here are just some of the trends you can expect to see.
Textural Tones
Forecasts for this autumn indicate that there will be a significant reduction in textures in favour of the bold autumn print. That being said there will be some wiggle room for Merino Snug wool and other such luxury, comfort fabrics because we are seeing a trend of informal robes. Other than that we will continue to see a fair amounts of lace detailing and be re-introduced to tulle and sequins. See-through tops, and bottoms of skirts are also something that will be adding interesting this season.
Carnival Colours
Anything goes in autumn 2017 as long as it is LOUD. Some colours that are trending include hot pink, reds, purples, pinks, metallics and yellow, a whole lot of yellow. If you prefer to remain more understated, there will also be an abundance of khaki and the white button down has had its usual revamp and has reincarnated itself as business shirt-dresses! If you like a little colour in your like but don’t like the sound of a fully yellow or hot pink ensemble, we are seeing plenty of baby-doll type looks that are taking advantage of pastel pinks, muted pastel oranges.
Pray for Patterns
If you think the colours schemes seem crazy you should see what I’m seeing with pattern trends! We are seeing polka dots, patchwork patterns in every colour, and stripes, every kind of stripe! There is the always the classy pinstripe for those who want to exude professionalism and then there are candy stripes, irregular stripes, and we are seeing both vertical and horizontal, thick and thin. Basically anything goes. And Get your mind off of the monochromatics, and replace it with fall colours, a lot of orange, and blue and of course pink. Pretty much any pattern is a go if you are adventurous enough!
Shapes and Styles
There are a few different choices when it comes to picking a silhouette this autumn; trench coats are back, large boxy jackets with oversized shoulders, rounded shoulders and hips on dresses, and thanks to the underwear as outerwear movement, the shape your mumma gave you is fine as well. Bras are to be seen this season, with a sheer top or simply no top, your assets can really do the talking.
Continuing the underwear theme, we are also seeing cinched waists with the waist trainer over a nice shirt or cameo. When it comes to styles there are plenty of directions to move in, you can go for an 80s glam inspired look or a soft baby doll, as long as one of your shoulders has a cut out or off the shoulder strap!
The Right Accessory
In a stark contrast to last season, chokers are out and lonnnnng pendant necklaces are their replacement, compliment that with some hoops or other chunky earring and add a comically oversized bag for effect and you will be sure to turn heads.
Whilst there will be a lot going on this autumn it means you can have some fun with your look and try something you may not have considered before. Because, above all, fun is in style this 2017!
