It’s nearly Summer, which can only mean one thing…we’re in dire need of a wardrobe colour shift! And whilst we’re still loving prints, florals and colour blocking, the old-age love for pastel shades has come back ‘round again, and we sure ain’t complaining!
Never worn a pastel piece in your life, and not sure where to even start? Pastels can be practically anything that would look good as ice cream! Yep, delicious shades of light pink, cornflower blue, mint green, sunflower yellow and lilac. The more muted, the better! Think Spring fling, flirty and super fun!
There’s no doubt pastels are a loveable trend that will stay around forever, but we know it can tend to resemble something more 1950s Pink Lady a la Grease lightning, or even a tad bit pyjama-ry. Cute and adorable for pre-teens, but not at all womanly. It can sometimes be a bit tricky to pull off the look if you’re new to the pastel world. But lo and behold, we’ve curated a guide that’ll have you feeling pretty in pastel pink just in time for the season change!
Tip 1:
Find the colour that best suits you. Introduce different colours to your wardrobe gently, yellow and green can be hard for some to carry out, so start out with blushes and blues as they compliment most skin tones. Pastels work wonders when paired with white, and is a very feminine and romantic touch. In comparison, pairing pastels with black can tend to make you look like a Liquorice Allsort and can in turn dull down your outfit.
Tip 2:
The key to a perfect pastel outfit is to pick high quality pieces with a classic cut. As many pastel shades are worn to fancy events such as weddings or the races, choose a pastel piece with a midi or maxi hemline. We’re thinking more demure and sophisticated as possible! Nothing but the best, we say!
Tip 3:
The best part about this trend is you can inject pastels into your life in so many ways! Whether you’re rocking an all-in-one combo, or a two-piece ensemble, pastels seem to go hand in hand with each other! We’re talking about a periwinkle midi skirt teamed with a blush off-shoulder top and matching clutch. And it doesn’t just stop there, banish the black and white from your wardrobe and introduce a whole lot of pastel accessories, from fedoras, to heels, to handbags.
