While all eyes may be on the latest collections, models and street style at Fashion Week, something bigger is also being thrown on show.
The spotlight is on Sydney and NSW this week, as Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia showcases the city and its sights and talents to an international audience.
At a breakfast on Monday morning, Minister for Small Business Katrina Hodgkinson announced the 2014 NSW Fashion Week Ambassadors, whose job it will be to showcase NSW as a global cultural and fashion hub, as well as a must see holiday destination.
The seven ambassadors are; designers Alexandra and Genevieve Smart of Ginger & Smart, designer Alice McCall of alice McCALL, international models Zac and Jordan Stenmark, beauty and health writer/blogger Eleanor Pendleton and fashion blogger Steph Adams.
They will share their favourite Sydney and regional NSW spots with international media, including US Marie Claire, US Lucky Magazine, blogger Susie Lau from Susie and Refinery 29.
Alice McCall said it was “quite serendipitous” to be an ambassador, particularly given this year marks alice McCall’s 10th anniversary.
Ms Hodgkinson said that NSW Government was committed to supporting Aussie fashion designers as they break into the competitive global market, and have recently appointed the State’s first Creative Industries Business Adviser.
Over 70 up and coming and established Australian designers will show at MBFWA, and you can see all the reports and highlights, including backstage, right here at Onya Magazine.
