Happy Undies from HAPPY P. are underwear with a psychological twist. This purposely-designed underwear empowers those who wear it with a positive affirmation on the inside to take charge of their own mental wellbeing.
Created and launched by two sisters, Linda and Anita, with the vision to normalise mental health these undies are designed to empower everyone with one positive thought a day to create their own happiness.
The message is simple: happiness is a choice and everyone is in charge of their own. They might just need a little reminder every day.
Linda says, “By including an affirmation inside our Happy Undies we make it simple to include positive thinking in your everyday routine – whenever you slip on your undies in the morning and in those private moments in everyday life you look at your positive affirmation and actively think about it…and you are reminded of your own power.”
This is not just a fashion statement but has an underlying psychological concept.
Anita adds, “The effectiveness of positive affirmations is not only scientifically proven but also a coping strategy that anyone can learn. By replacing negatively associated emotions with positive ones you encourage yourself to take actions in line with the repeated positive thoughts. Step by step you reach your desired goals and strengthen your self-efficacy.”
Besides its strong focus on a happy mind, the underwear also keeps the environment happy throughout its production process. Produced in Bali by a small, independent digital printer that was hand-picked by the two founders, the underwear consists of 75% recycled Polyester and 15% Elastane. The recycled Polyester is created from recycled plastic bottles and thereby plastic bottles are repurposed and waste is reduced.
HAPPY P. aims to be a real advocate in the mental health conversation and is looking to partner with other organisations supporting the same vision. Currently, $1 of each order is donated to the Waves of Wellness Foundation for their surf therapy programmes.
The current stock focuses on women’s underwear and HAPPY P. has big plans for the future with a designated underwear for postnatal depression launching soon.
