In seems that in 2011, fashion shows with a difference are the trend du jour – no more do audiences want to see models parading up and down a catwalk with a surly look and good posture – in 2011, it’s all about entertainment.
Following in the footsteps of Catwalk Circus, Urban Upbringing will take place on March the 27th – yep, it’s a Sunday – and is an avant-garde street runway showcasing up-and-coming Melbourne designers.
An outdoor event in Melbourne is always fun and this one will be no different, taking place in one of our iconic laneways, Rutledge Lane. While the layout and structure of the parade is a closely guarded secret, event company La Carte Blanche is at the helm of Melbourne’s first ever street style laneway runway event.
The aptly named Until Never Gallery will host a pre and after party for the 200 guests and designers, commencing at 7pm.
So what can one expect from this unique event? Joseph Jang will show his latest collection in denim while Kosta J Peters uses raw leather and his fabric of choice. Geoffrey Haining will display his ‘zombie-wear’ line while Luisa Fernanda has a collection in red and black that will never fade from your memory.
Every attendee at Urban Upbringing will receive a La Carte Blanche goodie bag and the experience of being at the first ever street style laneway runway event.
