A recently launched eyewear brand has set its sights on protecting consumers’ eyes and purse strings, as well as removing their blindfold when it comes to luxury designer sunglasses, proving that a label doesn’t always mean maximum quality and protection.
With a focus on ethical production, quality and timeless styles, and high grade eye protection, Melbourne based SōLEURS, has positioned itself in the marketplace as a premium brand with a highly competitive price point. All SōLEURS’ frames are designed in-house and manufactured overseas, essentially streamlining the process, which keeps the cost low.
After a successful 30-‐year career as a medical professional, the creative mind behind the eyewear brand, Dr Nathan Orbach, said the motive behind the e-‐commerce business came after a trip overseas.
“Whilst travelling around Europe and Asia, the enormous difference between the prices people paid for designer sunglasses and their humble origins really hit me. The disparity between the quality level in the current luxury marketplace and the related price points is an issue that needs to be addressed.”
What began as a wider conversation concerning high price points and the automatic assumption of high quality, grew into a journey centred on design and social responsibility, explains Orbach.
“At SōLEURS , we design all frames in-‐house, manufacture overseas and deliver straight to the customer, therefore simplifying the process and cutting out the middle man, allowing for a lower cost to the consumer. We have a genuine focus on fair trade and a commitment to social responsibility.”
Inspired by the harsh yet beautiful Australian climate and landscape, all SōLEURS sunglasses come with polarised lenses and have been created with comfort and versatility in mind. The frames cut a timeless and elegant aesthetic, fitting for any occasion, from a leisurely bike ride, brisk jog or an outdoor business meeting, each design reflects the need for everyday wearability.
Orbach concluded: “We have a genuine desire to promote eye health and that’s why all of our sunglasses come with polarised lenses. Polarised lenses contain a special filter which works to reduce glare and block intense reflected light, which can be dangerous. Many designer labels don’t come with this as standard and more often than not, customers have to pay extra. Through our transparent and authentic business model, we can restore this imbalance in the current luxury marketplace.”
