“Miracle hair serum”, “luscious locks guaranteed” … we’ve all seen the promises, but the fact is, every person’s hair is different. Unfortunately, there’s no single product that can turn every head of hair into a beautiful, flowing mane that looks like Rapunzel has stepped into your mirror.
There is, however, plenty you can do to take care of the hair you have, and the team at Hairhouse have some solutions to your hair woes that are easy and successful.
How To Tame Your Hair
Frizzy Hair: If you suffer from “the frizz”, there are a few things you can do to help combat it. To start with, get a regular haircut as this will remove any dry, split ends. If you have split ends, these travel further up your hair, causing it to fray – which leads to those flyaways. Another tip, shower in warm water, not hot. Heat is guaranteed to enhance your frizz. Use quality products – including shampoo and conditioner that has little chemicals, so your hair is hydrated. And finally, get some anti-frizz serum for daily use.
Thinning Hair: If your hair is thinning and balding, it could be related to genetics, diet and lifestyle, or age. If you want to stop hair loss, there are a few things you can do. Eat more protein; ensure your Vitamin D and B12 levels are not low; check your iron levels; and take care of your scalp. A good hair growth treatment is good for men and women and includes the right vitamins and minerals that help to treat hair follicles and promote healthy growth.
Damaged Hair: Whether you’ve used your straightener too much, you’re continually colouring your hair to hide those greys, or your hair is worn from too many tight buns or ponytails, it’s time for damage control. Start by lowering the temperature on your tools so you’re not burning your hair. Take care of your split ends with regular hair trims, eat a healthy diet, dye it less often (8-10wks is plenty), and get yourself a quality heat protect spray. You could also look into getting some hair treatment in Singapore, and look for products to help with hair growth.
Curls: If you’ve been blessed with curls, you’ll know how hard they can be to take care of – particularly in windy weather! But if you want to keep them healthy (and happy), there are a few simple things you can do. Apply shampoo before you get in the shower as it helps you to target specific areas and there’s less chance of tangles; apply products on your hands, not directly onto the hair, and use your fingers to run it through your curls; and enhance those curls with products that are rich in nutrients and moisturising properties, such as shea butter, argan oil and coconut oil.
Natural / Normal: Okay, so you got off easy. Having natural or normal hair though, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take care of it – if you don’t, you could end up prone to many of the things we’ve mentioned already. Don’t use too much shampoo, condition your hair after every wash, apply a weekly hair mask and brush gently to prevent split ends. Also, make sure you get regular trims at the hairdresser and use quality products. Evo products are our favourites, with nourishing properties that will keep your hair healthy.
Grey Hair: Grey hair is prone to frizz, can dry out very easily, and it can be very stubborn – this is because grey hair cuticles are tougher than pigmented hair. If you’re growing older naturally, looking after your greys is easy. Brush your hair every night, use quality shampoo and conditioner, try a gloss treatment on your hair to make it shine, and protect your hair from the sun, chlorine in pools, and minerals in your water by covering up and using filtered water where possible; as these could cause your greys to take on a yellow tone.
