It’s easy to get carried away in the morning when you’re getting ready and feeling like now is the best time to try on every makeup product you own or the new style trending on TikTok. We’ve all been there. But getting carried away can turn into a problem when you start becoming late for Zoom calls or deadlines.
How can you change this though? When getting ready in the morning is your ‘you’ time, you kind of want to spend that time enjoying it, right? Exactly.
Between putting on the perfect outfit, clipping in your hair extensions, and applying some fresh lipstick, you somehow need to fit this all into your dedicated morning routine time slot. Here are some of our favourite tips to help speed up your morning routine without eliminating any of the fun.
Plan Your Outfit The Night Before
Perhaps this makes it feel too much like school for you, but honestly, planning your outfit the night before will take a lot of time off your morning routine. This will also give you more time to plan what will go well together and what accessories to add, instead of rushing around in the early morning, hoping to find some clean trousers.
Even if you have the basics of your outfit laid out already so you can jump out of bed and waste no time, this will beat that morning frenzy.
Set A Timer For Your Shower
If you shower in the morning, it may be worth your while to set up a timer for when you get in. It’s all too easy to enjoy that hot water, giving you a comforting wake up call; especially during the wintertime. However, you may be surprised by how quickly you can waste time in the shower!
Set your phone alarm to go off in a few minutes so that you know your shower time is limited. This way, you’ll get done what you need to and end any unnecessary shower singing and dancing in good time.
Plan Or Organise Your Breakfast The Night Before
If you’re a breakfast person, you know that to enjoy a good, healthy breakfast means preparation and sometimes it’s not that quick. In this case, decide what you want to eat the night before; whether that requires you to put away some overnight oats, cut some pieces of fruit, or just know exactly what will be on the menu.
Being prepared will save you so much time in the a.m because most of the time wasted is spent on decision-making.
Place Your Phone Or Alarm Clock (Or Both) Across The Bedroom
One of the easiest ways to waste time in the morning is by lying in bed, scrolling. This is all too familiar to us all!
To combat the possibility of unnecessary scrolling, place your phone and alarm clock at the opposite end of the room. This way, when they go off, you will have no choice but to get out of bed and start your day. It’s a smart trick to ensure you don’t fall back asleep or lose time on social media.
If you manage to implement these tips and plan the night before, your morning routine is likely to run a lot smoother, and you’ll have a bit of extra time to enjoy the getting ready process!
