Winter 2020 brings with it even more time indoors which can upset the natural balance and hydration of your skin.
Low levels of air humidity combined with dry heat from central heating draws moisture away from skin, leaving it prone to dryness, cracking, redness, irritation and even bleeding.
We spoke with Australian Natural Beauty Expert Belinda Hughes about natural ways to achieve glowing make-up free skin.
Eat plenty of antioxidants:
The food that you eat can have a monumental impact on your skin’s natural glow. Aim for foods that are rich with the major antioxidants (vitamin A, C and E) such as carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, spinach, kale and asparagus. Research has shown that antioxidants help protect skin cells from environmental damage by disarming free radicals and can also protect skin cells from UV rays which cause hyperpigmentation.
Cleanse daily:
An important step to having glowing, make-up free skin is to cleanse your skin daily. Use a gentle face cleanser twice per day (morning and night) to rid your skin of debris like dirt, oil and pollutants which clog your skin’s pore and cause dullness and breakouts. Use a natural, soap-free cleanser with rice extract and aloe to soothe sensitive skin.
Exfoliate your skin:
One of the best ways to naturally brighten your skin and immediately boost its glow is through exfoliating. The process of exfoliating removes the skin’s outer layer of dead cells and congestion, leaving skin smoother, clearer, and brighter. Use a natural exfoliant, such as Burt’s Bees Exfoliating Clay Mask, which has over 99% natural ingredients such as super fruit Kakadu plum, vitamin C, antioxidants and magnesium. You can also pair this product with a natural face oil, such as Burt’s Bees Complete Nourishment Facial Oil, which has a concentrated blend of rosehip, jojoba and evening primrose oil, essential fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants that rejuvenate and revitalise dull skin cells and provide all day hydration.
Hydration is key:
A lack of proper skin hydration not only leaves your skin looking and feeling dull, it can also lead to dryness, redness, and irritation. Make sure you are keeping up your water intact in winter to give your skin it’s best chance of a radiant, natural winter glow.
